TICKETS AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR ONLY. Sorry, no advance ticket sales!
Our annual Madison’s Funniest Comic Competition (MFCC) draws upwards of 80 local comedians. In order to sign up, comics must be based in Wisconsin and must have performed at our open mic, the Mic on State, at least three times prior to signing up. Over the course of each Wednesday, typically in the month of April, competing comics will perform first in preliminary rounds, and then, after a round of eliminations, semi-finals, followed by a final round. After the final round of eliminations, Madison’s Funniest Comic will be named!

FAQ’s
What’s the difference between Madison’s Funniest Comic Competition and the Mic on State?
Madison’s Funniest Comic Competition differs from the Mic in several ways. Unlike the Mic, where individuals have an even shot at getting up onstage each week, the competition requires the elimination of individuals over the course of each week. These eliminations will be based on both audience votes and decisions made by our panel of judges.
When will the competition take place?
Madison’s Funniest Comic Competition 2024 will replace the weekly Mic on State Wednesday, April 3rd through Wednesday, April 24th, with finals taking place the following week on Wednesday, May 1st. These shows take place from 9 p.m. until roughly 11:00 p.m.
Can I make a reservation or buy tickets in advance?
Unfortunately, no. Tickets for these shows are only available at the door.
Can I save seats for friends?
Unfortunately, no. Given the popularity of the event seating is first come/first serve and seats cannot be held for any guests that are not present.
What time should I arrive to watch the show?
We recommend arriving as soon as you can to door time (7:30 p.m.) in order to guarantee a spot. Seating is first come, first serve based on availability, similar to our regular Wednesday open mics. These shows tend to fill up quickly and sell out, so we suggest arriving no later than 8:30 p.m.
How do I get a ballot to vote?
In order to receive a ballot you must be present by the time the show begins at 9:00pm. You cannot pick up ballots in advance for anyone who may be arriving late. This is in order to keep judging fair for all contestants.
